In this day and age we are all connected to the internet some way or another. Either way it is essential for us to stay safe and secured when we are online because you will be at risk to illegal activity or the abuse of it. (Metropolitan Police Service, n.d) Therefore to stay safe it is important to not:
  • Do not give out your personal information (such as your address) to people you don't know. (Metropolitan Police Service, n.d)
  • Don't send pictures of yourself to anyone especially explicit pictures. (Metropolitan Police Service, n.d)
  • Keep away from people who you don't know sending you messages, emails or friend requests. (Metropolitan Police Service, n.d)
  • Don't go and meet people in person whom you got to know online. (Metropolitan Police Service, n.d)
  • If you come across anything you've read that worries you, talk to somebody about it. (Metropolitan Police Service, n.d)
  • Don't post about private things occurring in your as it could attract the wrong attention. (Metropolitan Police Service, n.d)
  • If people send offensive messages or make you feel uncomfortable online in any way, report it immediately. (Metropolitan Police Service, n.d)
  • Only join online groups which are appropriate to your age. (Metropolitan Police Service, n.d)
  • Use a made up name or a nickname to protect your identity when joining a group. (Metropolitan Police Service, n.d)
  • Be careful when sharing things online especially if they're not your own. (Metropolitan Police Service, n.d)
